SEEN: Sound of 2012 – Mark Ronson
Yayoi Kusama at Tate Modern >>
<< Tyler Shields – Beyond the Gates

So whether you do or don’t care about the London Olympics, they are coming! We have already been overloaded with Olympic countdowns, news and events – so apologies in advance for this. But Mark Ronson’s mission to find the beat of 2012 is more interesting than expected.

The producer has recorded a number of athlete’s sounds to create a soundtrack for London 2012. The combination of sports such as judo, table tennis, hurdles and archery should make an interesting eclectic mix. Kim Gehrig has created this short video trailer showcasing the work, with Ronson getting up close and personal to his subjects.

Talking around the process  of creating the track, Ronson describes one sound as “The kind of Kick Drum you couldn’t even buy”. Using his own drum beat and sporting sounds, it will be interesting to see what Ronson does create. In his own words, the track “Will be a club, fun track for everyone to dance too”. Whether his dream becomes a reality is yet to be seen.

Pernod Absinthe has a rich history of inspiring creativity and originality, which is why shortly after 1805 it became the most popular aperitif in France. In the mid 19th Century, L’Heure Verte (The Green Hour) became a cultural phenomenon in Paris and every evening between 5 and 7 o’clock cafés all over Paris were flooded with customers clambering for a Pernod.
