The inaugural exhibition of Foto8′s newly refurbished space on Honduras Street opened its doors on the 3rd of November to the exhibition One Hundred & Forty Characters by British photographer Chris Floyd. Inspired by his constant social interaction with individuals on Twitter, Floyd resolved to discover the 140 identities of 140 of his followers and people he follows, faithfully living their lives in 140 characters or less.
“The idea for this came at a moment when I realised I had not seen or spoken to any of my closest, real and actual friends for over a month, although I communicated with some of those people on Twitter several times a week.” says Floyd.
In his exhibition One Hundred & Forty Characters, Floyd bridges the gap between the maintenance of traditional relationships and the forging of new ones, through contemporary social mediums.
One Hundred & Forty Characters is exhibiting at the Host Gallery 1 Honduras Street, London, EC1Y 0TH from the 3 – 17 November 2011.
