Last night, Think- Work- Play headed south of the river to George and Jorgen gallery to host a Green Hour for artist Thomas Webb’s first UK solo show. ’Holding hands, chasing the moonlight’ features heavily detailed pencil works, and abstracted painting onto mixed media of canvas and fabric.
Son of a curtain maker, Webb is fascinated by the weight and weave of fabric. Large banner pieces filled the gallery last night, featuring imagery from Northern and Native America. One particular piece that caught our eye was a highly realistic pencil drawing of the artist’s grandfather. Beautifully constructed with exquisite detail and feeling. This one’s a must see.
