    SEEN: Coachella 2012 Round-Up

This year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival offered a diverse range of artists. From the experimental tones of WU LYF to the reunion of Mazzy Star and the urban prowess of Azealia Banks and A$AP Rocky, the California festival really catered to all tastes.

Hailed as the best festival in the US and a magnet for celebrity attendees, Coachella is the highlight of the global festival calendar attracting talent from all over the world.

Even though day one started with dreary weather and rain, musically it couldn’t have been any hotter. The legendary shoe-gaze rockers of Mazzy Star played the first time since 16 years and their set included spine-tingling smasher ‘Fade Into You’ which was simply monumental. A further highlight from day one was Death Grips’ energetic torrent of punk paeans.

On day two the California crowd woke up to much friendlier weather and the sun was shining brightly for the day of weird stage cameos. Usher teamed up with David Guetta, “I Try” singer Macy Gray (remember her?) joined AWOLNATION on stage and Childish Gambino briefly performed with Kendrick Lamar. Radiohead managed to play a blinding set without anyone’s help.

Sunday’s highlight reel includes an epic set by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg who brought along their friends inviting hip hop heavyweights Eminem, 50 Cent, Warren G, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar on stage before resurrecting Tupac Shakur from the dead in form of an incredibly realistic hologram.

The festival is back for a second weekend this year, so still time to plan a last minute trip!
