In two days time, Giuseppe Penone’s latest installation ‘Space of Light’ will be opened to the public at the Whitechapel Gallery. Penone chose to create a twelve metre bronze sculpture of a tree for the latest Bloomberg Commission. Part of the Arte Povera movement, his work serves to remind us of our inextricable link with nature, in the face of modernised industry.

The International Architecture Biennale kicked off today in Venice. Directed by David Chipperfield and titled ‘Common Ground’ the Biennale brings together the best in architectural talent from across the globe. Centred around the theme of commonality, this year’s exhibit reasserts architecture as a body of common ideals, practices and a shared history. A total of 103 artists, architects, sculptors, photographers and academics are involved this year, in its 13th edition.

Art is created to be seen and experienced. However, some of the most iconic works of the last 100 years have been lost, never to be seen again. The Gallery of Lost Art, curated by Tate and produced in partnership with Channel 4, has recently launched to tell the story of works that no longer exist. Discarded, destroyed, erased, ephemeral, the virtual gallery explores the circumstances in which works were no more. Archival images, films, essays, blogs, and interviews tell the story of over 40 artists, including Marcel Duchamp, Joan Miro, Rachel Whiteread and Tracey Emin.
